MedFORCE Technologies Software Earns
Preliminary ARRA Certification from
CCHIT
MedFORCE Scan 7.0.2 document
management solution for healthcare
organizations gets preliminary
approval of its EHR Module from the
Certification Commission for Health
Information Technology (CCHIT)
Chestnut Ridge, NY
– July
15, 2010 – MedFORCE
Technologies, Inc., a leading
provider of software solutions for
the home medical equipment (HME)
industry and other healthcare
organizations, today announced that
the company’s document management
software, MedFORCE Scan, has
received preliminary ARRA
certification as an EHR Module
following inspection by the
Certification Commission for Health
Information Technology (CCHIT
®).
Some MedFORCE Scan software users
can potentially qualify for the
various financial incentives that
the government may be planning to
make available in the near future.
Funds will be available for
hospitals, physician practices and
other eligible providers thanks to
the American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA),
which was signed into law by
president Barack Obama on February
17, 2009. The U.S. Government has
announced intentions to provide some
eligible providers and hospitals
with financial incentives to
purchase or upgrade their software
capabilities so that they comply
with the first requirement for
incentive funding: the use of
“certified EHT technology.” In
anticipation of final U.S.
Department of Health and Human
Services (HHS) final rulings,
published on July 13, 2010, CCHIT
tested software applications to
determine whether they will likely
meet the
specific criteria to be considered
either a complete EHR or an EHR
module.
MedFORCE Technologies’ MedFORCE Scan
version 7.0.2 has been inspected by
the Certification Commission for
Health Information Technology (CCHIT®)
and is a certified EHR module, ,
preliminarily meeting 5 of 24
requirements for Eligible Providers
published by HHS in the Interim
Final Rule of January 2010. These
requirements were revised with the
publication of the final rules.
Inspection information is available

For the purpose of qualifying
products for ARRA incentives, CCHIT
anticipates, but has not yet
received, accreditation by HHS.
“We believe no other software
provider specializing in HME has
achieved this preliminary ARRA
certification. By using certified
software, HME companies can assure
their vendors and partners that
their software capabilities meet the
highest standards,”
said Esther Apter, CEO of MedFORCE
Technologies. “We are proud to be
leading the way as the government
works to promote the development an
advanced and secure infrastructure
that lays the groundwork for
superior EHR software in the United
States. Certified software provides
a credible valuation by independent
agents to assure the quality of the
software and compliance with the
high level of security required for
electronic health records.”
MedFORCE Scan is a complete
paperless solution offering the
ability to scan patient records,
create/import electronic forms,
import faxes, integrate with billing
software and manage EOMBs. MedFORCE
Scan is HIPAA-compliant,
document management
software for the healthcare/HME
industry. It provides a secure way
to scan all patient files and then
retrieve them electronically.
